Imani
Imani (7) and her older brother Ishmail (9) were found sleeping in the mountains of [removed]. Driven from their village, the siblings were hiding from ISIS terrorists who killed their parents. Both children were brought to safety by a rescue team.
After a short stay in one of our “Open Sky” refugee camps, Imani and Ishmail were placed with a loving house church family. Both children do chores and school work every day. Imani and her new older sister help clean the house. She looks forward to growing up and becoming a wife, mother, and homemaker some day.
When Imani was first rescued, she would experience fits of screaming and shouting as a result of the physical and emotional abuse she endured from ISIS terrorists. Thankfully, after several months of trauma counseling, she now enjoys playing with other children in her village.
Imani first heard about Jesus from her new siblings and other children in their village. She was amazed by the wonderful stories her new mother and father read her from the family Bible. Imani is learning how to read, write and share those stories of God's love, hope, and peace with others.
